Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul has admitted that his team has been battling with the bat for the last few seasons in the Indian Premier League. After Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore lost by PBKS runs, Rahul's remarks came after chasing 165 runs.

Rahul and opening partner Mayank Agarwal added 91 runs for the opening stand against RCB but the middle order again failed to impart any momentum and could not pass even after the two openers were out.

Speaking to Star Sports after the match, Rahul said that his team has no one to anchor the innings in the middle order which has cost them the match.

“I wouldn’t say I didn’t enjoy wearing it (Orange Cap) but I would have been happier if we had qualified. It was an equal score. Maybe 10-15 runs extra. When a guy like Maxwell comes up with this kind of form, it makes it harder. But with the bat in hand, the last few years have been frustrating. If I have to be honest, our batting has disappointed us, ”said Rahul.

Asked if he and Mayank have bothered him a lot for PBKS in the last two seasons, Rahul said: "If I lie that it's not playing in my mind that I'm playing a role that the team claims. I enjoy it. Not something like that, but when you lead the team, you have to take responsibility.

“In T20, the top two or three-run a lot. You will not have people in your middle order to score 500-600 runs. But we missed someone in the middle who quickly scored 300-40 runs, ”he signed.
